SECTION 6 ENGLISH PROJECT ENGLAND HISTORY It takes its name from the Angles, a Germanic tribe who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in the 10th century and has had a significant cultural and legal impact on the wider world since the Age of Discovery, which began during the 15th century . GEOGRAPHY FEATURES Mostly low hills and plains, especially in the south, Midlands and east. Upland or mountainous terrain prevails in the north and parts of the west . TRADITIONS Many holidays in England, such as Christmas, are celebrated throughout the world, is an opportunity for singing and feasting. Remembrance Day (November 11) honours British soldiers who died in World War I .
